There are some sacred and beautiful places hidden in the high hills of Uttarakhand, about which very few people would know. Such places are surrounded by religious beliefs and natural beauty, but since they are near the border areas, a special permit is required to go there. You may have visited such places in Uttarakhand where you did not need to ask for any kind of permit, but there are some places where you have to take a permit. Let us tell you about those places today.

Om Parvat, located in Pithoragarh district of Uttarakhand , is one of the most religious peaks of the Himalayas. The snow on this mountain freezes in such a shape that it looks like the symbol of ‘Om’. This is the reason why this place attracts a lot of devotees and travelers. Since this area is near the India-Nepal and India-China border, it is a protected zone and it is necessary to get a permit from Dharchula Tehsil to go here.
Timmersain Mahadev (Amarnath of Uttarakhand)

Timmersain Mahadev cave is a miraculous place hidden inside Niti village of Chamoli district. This place is considered like the Amarnath temple of Jammu and Kashmir , because here also a Shivling made of ice is formed naturally. This area also comes under the protected area, so one has to take a permit to go here also. Now gradually this place is becoming popular among devotees and people who like adventure.
Grotto Village

Situated at an altitude of 12,000 feet above sea level, this village is the last village before the India-China border. It is considered one of the most beautiful villages of Uttarakhand. Surrounded by snow-capped mountains on all sides, this village is also associated with mythological beliefs and the Adi Kailash Yatra starts from here. Inner Line Permit is also required to go here.
Nelang Valley

The weather and scenery of Nelang Valley, located at an altitude of 11,000 feet, about 115 km from Uttarkashi, reminds one of Ladakh and Spiti. This valley falls within Gangotri National Park and its beauty is very different and serene. It is also called ‘Ladakh of Uttarakhand’. Here too, due to being close to the border, one has to take an Inner Line Permit.
Signature

Chhaialekh, located at an altitude of 11,000 feet, is called the ‘Valley of Flowers’ of Vyas Valley. From here, the spectacular view of the Annapurna mountain range of Nepal is clearly visible. Since this place is also in the border area, the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) is deployed here and one is allowed to proceed only after permit checking.
