The Sachkhand Express runs between Amritsar and Nanded and covers a total distance of 2,081 km. The train connects two major Sikh religious places, Sri Harmandir Sahib (Amritsar) and Sri Hazur Sahib (Nanded). During this long journey, the train stops at 39 stations, out of which free meals are provided to the passengers at 6 stations.

People bring their own utensils

According to reports, the free food served on this train is possible because of a langar that has been running on this train for the past 20 years. The train halts for some time so that passengers can have their food comfortably without any crowding. People traveling on this train often bring their own utensils so that they can have delicious vegetarian food from the langar, which includes dishes like kadhi-rice, dal and vegetables

Langar is there for 30 years

It is worth noting that this train has its own pantry but no food is cooked there because only langar is served to all the passengers. Every day about 2,000 people are given free food. This free langar was started in 1995 and since then food has been served to lakhs of passengers.
