Periyar Wild Life Sanctuary, Kerala
Situated amidst the natural beauty and lush green forests of Kerala, Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary is a perfect place to see elephants. This sanctuary is spread around the Periyar Lake, where elephants can be seen drinking water on the river bank during boat safari. Other wild animals like tiger, gaur, sambar and langur are also found here.
Kaziranga National Park, Assam
Kaziranga National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is not only famous for the one-horned rhinoceros but also has a large population of elephants. Herds of elephants can be seen roaming in the grasslands and marshy areas of this national park in Assam. Through jeep safaris and elephant safaris, you can see these wild elephants as well as tigers, wild buffalos and other birds.
Jim Corbett National Park, Uttarakhand
Jim Corbett, India’s oldest national park, is not only famous for tigers, but a large number of elephant herds are also found here. Watching elephants drinking water and bathing on the banks of the Ramganga river is an unforgettable experience. Bandipur National Park, Karnataka
Karnataka’s Bandipur National Park is part of the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve and offers excellent opportunities to see elephants. The park is known for its dense forests and a variety of wildlife. In the morning and evening, you can see herds of elephants roaming in the forest during jeep safaris. Apart from this, tigers, leopards and Indian bison (gaur) are also found here.

Tamil Nadu’s Mudumalai Wildlife Sanctuary is located near the border of Kerala and Karnataka and is an important habitat for elephants. Apart from elephants, rare animals like tigers, leopards and red pandas are also found here. During the jungle safari, you can see elephants roaming in their natural habitat.
