Rishikesh, Mussoorie, Nainital are all such places where tourists are seen in thousands every weekend. In such a situation, either there is a jam on the Mall Road or there is a jam on the lower roads before reaching there, in such a situation we tourists tell the administration there that their arrangements are not good, now keeping all this in mind the government has prepared a good plan. Meaning if you are going to visit places in Uttarakhand, then it will be necessary for you to register in advance, all this will be done to avoid the crowd coming there and in this way it will be easy for the administration to handle things. Let us tell you, what will be necessary to do.

Registration will have to be done before coming to Mussoorie

Registration will have to be done before coming to Mussoorie

The authorities have planned to introduce a pre-registration system for tourists visiting Mussoorie during peak season (i.e. summer, winter holidays and long weekends) to deal with the problem of crowds and traffic jams. Under this, if a tourist does not register in advance, he can be barred from entering Mussoorie at the entry points. In 2022, around 11 lakh tourists visited Mussoorie, while in 2024 this number increased to more than 21 lakh.

According to TOI , Tourism Secretary Dheeraj Singh Garbyal said that first it will be ascertained how many tourists and vehicles come to Mussoorie during the holidays. For this, cameras will be installed at three entry points, Kimadi, Kempty Falls and Kuthal Gate. He said that this system will be implemented only during the crowded season, not throughout the year.

During peak season, hours-long traffic jams from Gandhi Chowk to Mall Road have become common. This June, a tourist from Delhi died because he was stuck in the traffic jam and could not reach the hospital on time. The registration form that will be created will require information such as number of tourists, contact number, vehicle number, duration of travel and place of stay.

Registration will be OTP based

Registration will be online and OTP-based. Indian tourists will receive the OTP on their mobile and foreign tourists will receive it on email. A QR code will be generated after the registration is complete. Vehicles entering Mussoorie will be identified by an automatic number plate reading system and those without a QR code will be stopped at the entry point.

It is very crowded during peak season

There are reports that this decision has been taken for Nainital and Rishikesh as well, but there is no information about this yet. Let us tell you, the crowd of tourists coming to Mussoorie and Nainital on weekends during summer benefits the local business, but along with this a lot of chaos is also seen.

There is a traffic jam at various places for hours, which causes trouble to both tourists and locals. In fact, a video went viral on social media showing a jam of about 2 km in Nainital, in which people were stuck at one place for hours. In another incident, an ambulance carrying a patient to the hospital was stuck in the jam for several hours and he died due to not getting timely treatment.
