  • By Air: There are two airports nearby to Coorg, Mangalore and Bengaluru.

  • When to visit: Summer is the best season to visit Coorg. You can plan your trip between March and June. The day temperature at this time is perfect for trekking and site seeing.

You will find 355 species of different birds in this hill station. 66% of the birds of the entire Karnataka state can be seen here. Some of them make their home here in winter and some fly here from nearby areas. If someone likes bird watching, then they must come here. 

Coorg Special Spices

This place is quite famous for spices. Here you will find spices like black pepper, cardamom, cumin, basil. Along with enjoying the fragrance of these spices, you can buy different varieties of spices from here. Not only this, you will also find honey with many spices, which you can taste. 

These waterfalls enhance the beauty of Coorg

  • Iruppu Falls: It originates from Brahmagiri as a stream of the Lakshmana-tirtha river and flows down the hill in Coorg to merge with the Kaveri river. There is also a famous temple nearby.
  • Abbi Falls: This waterfall falls from a height of 70 feet, offering a spectacular view to the tourists visiting here. Its height is slightly less compared to the rest of the waterfalls in Karnataka.
  • Mallalli Falls: Falling from a height of 200 feet, it creates a blanket of smoke around it and a rainbow-like effect is visible. This waterfall originates from the Kumaradhara River.
  • Chelavara Falls: This white waterfall is formed by a tributary of Cauvery river, in which the rock situated at a height of 150 feet looks like a turtle. You can see this waterfall at any time of the day.

You can ride an elephant here

You will find a lot to do and see in the Cauvery Nisargadham Forest of Coorg. This dense forest is surrounded by the Cauvery River. The most fun thing for adults and children is elephant rides. Here you will also get to see deer and rabbit parks. 

Not only this, the forest department has also built guest houses and bamboo treetop cottages on the river bank for tourists, which are a big attraction for the visitors. Here you can also enjoy a boat ride in the Kaveri river. There is also a separate children’s park for children. You can also enjoy your favorite snack in the food court built here.
